Final report
It is with great sadness that we report that Martina passed away before her operation in December 2015. May she rest in peace.
The funds collected for Martina have been used for the urgent operation needed by 21-year-old Juliane. Juliane lost her father six years ago and her mother three years later. Since then, it is her grandmother who takes care of her and her three siblings. She has suffered from fever bouts and respiratory problems for many years, but it is only recently that Dr. Tanchou Cabral diagnosed her congenital heart defect, which had to be fixed surgically. This life-saving procedure was realised by Dr. Charles Mvondo and his team on 15 February 2016.
The grandmother has absolutely no income and is greatly thankful for the 100% help provided by the community of MI-DO donators. She thanks MI-DO and the team of the Cardiac Centre for having made this wonder possible for Juliane.
Martina must be operated very soon! Though she has been suffering from her desease since the age of five, she was only recently brought to the Cardiac Centre Shisong, where Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa diagnosed a very serious mitral insufficiency. The desease is already in an advanced stage and there could be soon complications. Martina should thus be operated as soon as possible. Since the mother takes care alone of her four children, she is absolutely unable to contribute financially to the surgery.
