Final Report:
Njiki and her mother are jubilant. Njiki was finally able to get the operation she needed so badly in order to correct the congenital heart defect from which she suffered. On 13 February 2015, Dr. Charles Mvondo and his team have closed the hole in her cardiac septum. Fortunately both the operation and her stay at the clinic went without any complication. At the end, Njiki's mother was unable to contribute finacially to the operation, but, of course, Njiki received all the attention she required and her mother took care of her doughter during her stay. Njiki is now back home and enjoys her new life.
Njiki's mother thanks the MI-DO community of donors and the Friends of Franciscan Mission Outreach for its generous help. Thanks to you, Njiki and her family can now look confidently at the future.
An African proverb says: "If someone is ill, then the entire family, the entire village, the entire community is ill". Njiki has been very ill for five years now and Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa, from the Shisong Cardiac Centre, has recently identified her problem: Njiki suffers from a severe atrial septal defect that needs urgent surgical correction.
Njiki has five siblings, her father died four years ago and her mother Anne cares alone for the family. Anne would like to help her daughter Njiki, but the costs of the operation are more than she can afford. She will nevertheless try to contribute 500.000frs (€ 736,00).
Please help to make Njiki's operation possible and turn around the proverb: "If someone becomes healthy, then the entire family, the entire village, the entire community is healthy"!
