Camila is mother of two from Kumbo, in northwestern Cameroon, in what is called Cameroon's grassland, a very fertile region with a pleasant climate. One can have a nice and healthy life there.

But, Camila must fight with many challenges. She has been very ill for many years and, in the last two years, her state of health as greately detoriated. She was also abandoned by her husband. After many unsuccessful treatments at the Regional Hospital, Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa, from the Shisong Cardiac Centre, has diagnosed a severe atrial septal defect that can only be corrected surgically.

In Cameroon, as in most African countries, there is no public health insurance system and patients or their family must defray the entirety of treatment costs. As a single mother, Camila is unable to pay for her operation. She will nevertheless contribute 400.000frs (€610,00).

This operation will allow Camila to get back her health and finally live a normal live!

May 2015: Because of poor general condition Camila could not yet be operated. She is under medical treatment and is scheduled for the surgery in July 2015.
