Maffo, who is only two years old, has already spent many days in hospital. She has been ill since birth and she was treated many times at the Chantal Biya Foundation for chest pains and continuous fever. Dr. Chelo David, convinced that Maffo suffered from a malformation of the heart, sent her to the Cardiac Centre Shisong for further tests. There, an echocardiogram allowed Dr. Cabral Tantchou to diagnose a malformation of the ventricular septum which must be quickly operated. 

Maffo's parents have practically no income. her mother is a housewife and her father is unemployed. Nevertheless they hope to raise 200.000 FCFA (€ 305,34) towards the operation costs.
