Thanks to the generous support of the mi-do community and the friends of Franciscan Mission Outreach, Randy was successfully operated on. In November 2019, Dr. Charles Mvondo and his team surgically corrected the heart defect. Randy has recovered extremely well. Andrea, the mi-do project coordinator, met Randy in person during her project visit in December 2019 and brought greetings from Randy:
"Please tell all donors how grateful I am. Without your help, none of this would have been possible and I might not be here anymore. I'm fine again and I can breathe again. I just have to get stronger and then I'm looking forward to continuing my apprenticeship as a mechanic. Unfortunately, I can't give anything to the benefactors. I can only say THANK YOU and pray for everyone. "
Randy is described by the Cardiac Center team as a nice, modest young man with a fine personality. He bore his illness with patience and is now glad to receive help in the Cardiac Centre Outreach department. He suffers from a rheumatic heart disease that lead to a demage of the mitral valve. The mitral valve needs to be replaced.
Thanks to your valued support, Randy and his family need not worry about funding the life-saving heart surgery. Thank you so much!
