We are delighted that Marie, a three-year old girl, can be helped in the Cardiac Center Outreach. She has a congenital heart defect, which can only be corrected surgically. This will be possible during the November 2019 surgical mission.

Did you know that congenital heart defects are equally common all over the world? In the Western world, the diagnosis is often made before birth and corrective surgery is possible immediately after birth and is covered by social security.In countries such as Cameroon, this possibility is very limited. The Heart Center of the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis is the only one in Central West Africa for a catchment area of 200 million inhabitants. The expansion of the centre and the establishment of new centres is therefore particularly important. Moreover, there is no public health insurance system that would cover the costs of examinations, treatments and operations.
