Fadimatou is a mother of four who lives in a remote region of North-West Cameroon. She is married and belongs to the Fulani people, who live mostly from cattle breeding. The men take care of the herd and the women are in charge of the children and household.

However, Fadimatou cannot continue to take care of her children and household. Since more than four years she suffers from chronic and constantly worsening coughing and fatigue. She was treated without success in many hospitals, in Maroua, Garoua and Yaoundè. She was then sent to the Cardiac Centre Shisong, where Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa performed an echocardiogram and diagnosed a mitral valve defect that necessitates a surgical intervention.

The income generated by cattle breeding is sufficient to raise a family, but not to pay the entirety of the surgery costs. The family will be able to contribute 1.000.000 FCFA (€ 1.527,00).
