Incredible! At first Romeo could hardly walk because he was just too weak, and now he is happy again and full of energy. The mi-do project supervisor Andrea Maria met Romeo and his grandmother in November 2017 at the Cardiac Center just five days after the successful operation and confirmed that he was already playing with the other kids and he was hard to hold back in his urge to move. He was just too happy about the newfound energy. Romeo recovered quickly and only 10 days after the operation his granny could take him home. Dr. Charles Mvondo was assisted in the operation by a visiting-medical team from Milan. On the MI-DO news page you can see Romeo and other mi-do patients as well as other impressions from Cameroon.
Romeo's grandmother wholeheartedly thanks all those who made this miracle possible: The Lamnos Choir, the mi-do donation community, the social case management office, the nursing team and medical professionals.
The fact that singing makes people happy and healthy applies to Romeo in a very special way. The Lamnos Choir Community of Cameroon has taken over the cost of the cardiac catheterization for Romeo!
The prehistory: Romeo has been sick since his birth again and again, he grew slowly and can barely walk. When Romeo got severe coughing, shortness of breath and high fever, his grandmother took him to the Cardiac Center Shisong. Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa found a severe Tetralogy of Fallot. The examination was carried out by means of a cardiac catheter and it turned out that an operative intervention is unavoidable.
Romeo lives with his grandmother because his mother died and the father abandoned the little boy. The grandmother is a self-sustaining farmer and can not pay for the operation costs.
With the support of the Lamnos Choir Community and the MI-DO community, the life-saving intervention for Romeo will be possible. A thousand thanks in advance for your valued support!
