Brother Boniface tells us that Hamadou recently underwent an operation and that Dr. Charles Mvondo and his team have successfully replaced a malfunctioning heart valve! Hamadou's extended family is very happy to see him back home and in good health.
For Hamadou's father, it is a miracle that so many people joined efforts to make possible his son's operation. He thanks wholeheartedly the entire community of MI-DO donors and the Cardiac Center's team for their wonderful help!
The whole family is concerned about Hamadou who developed serious health problems within one year. The doctors in the regional hospital suspected a heart problem and finally Hamadou was transferred to The Cardiac Centre Shisong for further investigation. Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa made an echocardiography and diagnosed a severe mitral valve insufficiency. The heart defect can be corrected only through a surgical intervention.
Hamadou's mother died when he still was a baby. The father, a subsistence farmer who is providing for 12 children and three wives, is unable to come up for the costs of the lifesaving surgical intervention. He wants to try to contribute the amount of € 152,00. (this corresponds to the costs of an ewe or a goat)
