Recovery story
We are happy to celebrate with Saleh's family the success of the recent operation! Dr. Charles Mvondo and his team were able to fix Saleh's mitral insufficiency. After a short stay in intensive care, Saleh recovered for three weeks at the Cardiac Centre before the long trip home. Saleh is a very good student and looks forward to return to school.
Saleh's parents thank the community of MI-DO donors and the Friends of Franciscan Mission Outreach (USA) for their help!
Saleh and his parents have made a long journey to come to the Cardiac Centre Shisong for tests and treatment. Because Saleh suffers from a debilitating valvular heart disease, the family had to interrupt their journey many times. It took the family three days to reach the Cardiac Centre. After tests, Dr. Jean-Claude Ambassa recommended urgent surgery.
The family comes from the Northern Cameroon, where the income level is comparatively small. The family does not have the means to absorb the costs for the trip, the stay and the medical expenses. They can however contribute € 763,00, i.e. the average annual income of a family in Cameroon!
